Nigerian music has been experiencing a transformation with a strong hip-hop influence. Below is our list of the current hits you will hear in clubs and bars along with the usual international chart toppers.

D’Banj grew up listening to Fela’s music, “his mentor” and he has performed at Femi Kuti’s new AFRIKAN SHRINE in Lagos as well as the Shrine Synchro System’s regular London Night at Cargo. He also performed at the Black President Concert in memory of Fela’s art and legacy at the Barbican in London.

Rooftop MCs consists of two people – Adekunle Adeyoola (Soulsnatcha) and Olaitan Hughes (Sokleva). The name Rooftop MCs is derived from the scripture verse, Matthew 10:27, which states that “What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops”.
Booty Call - DonJazzy ft D'banj
If whirlwinds came in human form, Don Jazzy, CEO and producer of Mo’Hits Records, would be the fiercest. Just three years back, he brought a fusion of techno, dance-hall and African beats that saw D’Banj’s ‘Tongolo’ moving crowds and bagging awards, effectively sending the competition scampering. Dbanj would go on to win Nigeria’s second MTV Europe Music award, and thanks to hits like ‘Why Me’ remains the rave of the moment.

Yahooze - Olu Maintain
Olumide Edwards Adegbolu aka Olu Maintain is a Nigerian Afro hip-hop musician. Olu Maintain was a member of the hip-hop trio called Maintain (Olu, Tolu and Bamo) which had hits like I Catch Cold and Ni Bo La Wa Gbe Lo. After six albums between 1998 and 2004, he split from the group in 2005. His debut solo album, Maintain reloaded, has been very successful on the back of the smash hit "Yahooze", a song and dance combination which has been very well received in Nigeria.
